Introducing to cold water swimming

These are small group sessions for brave and adventurous swimmers who want to try open water swimming any time of the year. The session is designed to help you swim safer in cold water as well as to give you greater confidence in the open water and share ways you can feel more relaxed when swimming.

Each session lasts roughly one hour.
We start our swim day with a safety briefing during which we’ll discuss things like hypothermia, tides, cold water shock, rip tides, and how to recover once you get out of the cold water.

Once in the water, we’ll spend a bit of time acclimatising, focusing on breathing, balance, flotation and rotation. And we’ll mix all that up with some swimming, and a bit of a splashabout.

Generally, we’ll spend about 20 minutes chatting at the start, with approx 20 minutes in the water, followed by about 20 minutes recovery, with some discussion and feedback.
